Users of Google’s Search Console (aka Google Webmasters Tool) received messages letting them know that their sites should be made “mobile-friendly” by April 21, 2015.
This is the first time that I can recall that Google actually told us what to do. Most of of clients already had responsive websites and “mobilegeddon” had no impact.
What about our clients who did not make changes to comply with Google’s suggestions? We have noticed a drop in mobile users on their site. This is due to the fact that while their desktop ranking stayed the same, their mobile ranking dropped, resulting in fewer visits from mobile devices. The client didn’t notice because they checked the ranking on desktop only and failed to notice that their mobile ranking had gone down.
Make sure to check your rankings on mobile to make sure you have not be affected by mobilegeddon
